This Tuesday, through a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Relations of the Russian Federation called on the Venezuelan opposition to resolve their political disagreements with the national government in a peaceful manner and not through violent methods of confrontation such as be instiging for conflicts, and provoking riots.

In frank repudiation of the new coup attempt against the constitutional government of the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Commander in Chief Nicolás Maduro Moros, this Tuesday, April 30, from the Caracas Battalion located in Fort Tiuna, the General in Chief Vladimir Padrino López, Sectoral Vice President of Political, Security and Peace Sovereignty and People’s Power Minister for Defense, in the company of the Superior General Staff of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB), reaffirmed loyalty to the Constitution, laws of the Republic, institutions, legitimate authorities and the people of Venezuela.

“We strongly condemn the attempted coup in Venezuela by the right-wing that is submissive to foreign interests. The coup that was intended to consummate this Tuesday in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela is part of a series of unsuccessful strategies of the local opposition to take political power by unconstitutional means, emphasized the People’s Power Minister for Foreign Relations, Jorge Arreaza.

In an interview granted to the Colombian media Radio Caracol, the Venezuelan Foreign Minister stressed that this action, contrary to national legislation, has no major consequences nor the repercussion that is trying to be projected to the international level.

Before the attempted coup perpetrated by a group of irregulars who were stationed on Tuesday in the vicinity of Altamira in Caracas, to generate a military uprising, the Foreign Minister of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Jorge Arreaza, once again denounced the attempt of satellite governments supported by the United States to undermine Venezuelan democracy through unconstitutional strategies.

This Saturday the Venezuelan people moved with joy to celebrate the official departure of Venezuela from the Organization of American States (OAS), after denouncing the regional entity in 2017 for the attacks and aggressions that are promoted there against the sovereignty of the South American country.

CEPRA new paper from the Center for Economic and Policy Research (CEPR), by economists Mark Weisbrot and Jeffrey Sachs, finds that economic sanctions implemented by the Trump administration since August 2017 have caused tens of thousands of deaths and are rapidly worsening the humanitarian crisis.

“The sanctions are depriving Venezuelans of lifesaving medicines, medical equipment, food, and other essential imports,” said Mark Weisbrot, Co-Director of CEPR and co-author of the report. “This is illegal under US and international law, and treaties that the US has signed. Congress should move to stop it.”
